ASEAN Community

Asean is a geo-political and eonomy of the countries in southeast asia,which was established on 8 august 1967 in bangkok, thailand with signing of the ASEAN Declaration (Bangkok Declaration).

The organization purposes is to promote economic growth,social progress and cultural development of its member countries, to promote peace and stability at the regional level,as well as increasing the oportunity to discuss the differences between its members with peace.

Now Asean comprises all countries in southeast Asia. From the original five member countries Asean  has grown to ten members. The member countries of Asean are: philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapur, Thailand, Brunai Darusallam, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia.

Remember the inportance of geogrraphic,economic and strategic political, since in recent years, Asean has tried to explore the expansion of their members to the neighboring countries around Asean. Here is a list of countries expansion of Asean: Bangladesh, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Republic of China(Taiwan) Timor Leste.

It is a historic melistone and a culmination of ASEAN’s resilience and dynamism throughout a jorney of nearly half a century, and signals to the world how far and how well the ASEAN Member States have achieved in coming together as one community.

The ASEAN Community ascertains that the goal of ASEAN’s founding fathers of improving the lives of its people is reflected on the region’s economic and cultural development, social progress, regional peace and security, collaboration, mutual assistance in training and research, improvement of living standards, promotion of Southeast Asian studies and cooperation with regional and international organisations.

The center of global economic gravity is toward asia,within asia it is shifting toward the two giant economies of the people’s republic of china and india their emergense as economic superpowers suggests that”economic size” bestows significant advantage in accerelating growth and fostering development.

The association of southeast asian nations (ASEAN) is in the process of creating a single market and production baso, called the asean economic community, wich will allow the fise flow og good, service, investment, and skilled labor, and the free movement of capital across the region.

If asean were one economic, it would be seventh largest in theword with a combined gress domestic product of $2.4 ttrillion in 2013.

With over 600 million people, asean’s potential market is larger than the european union or north america, next to the people’s republic of china and india.

Asean is one of the most open economic regions in the world,with total merchandise export of over $1,2 trillion. Nearly 54% of total asean GDP 7 and 7 % of global export.

ASEAN Community

To build on what was been constructed over the years into the field of political and security coperation, the asean leaders have agreed to estabilsh the asean political security community (APSC). The APSC shall aim to ensure that countries in yhe region lie at peace with the world in a just,  democatic and harmonious enuironment.

The members of the community pledge to rely exclusively on peaceful processes in the seftlement of intra-regional differences and regard their security as fundamentally linved to one other and bound by geographic location, common vision and objectives. It has the following components. Political development; shaping and shring of norensi;conflict prevention; conflict revolution,post-conflict peace building;and implementing mechanisme.

The APSC blueprint is guide by the asean charter and the principles and purpose countained the nine. It provides a roadmap and timetable to establish the APSC by 2015. It also leaves room for flexibility to continue programmers beyond 2015 in order to cefain is significanse and have an enduring  quality.
